The Flash S02E02 Flash of Two Worlds

The Flash S02E02 Flash of Two Worlds

The Flash
S02E02: "Flash of Two Worlds"
Rating: 6 out of 10 (Decent)

In A Nutshell

When all is said and done, nothing much of any great action happened this week, hence why Ive not been inclined to give a higher rating, although what did happen was nevertheless fascinating.

Jason Jay Garrick, aka Earth 2 Flash, explains more about whats really been going on the last 6 months since that singularity. He explains how he was about to snuff it from his arch nemesis, Zoom, when the singularity opened up and hes been on our earth every since, but without his speed. Barry doesnt trust him, especially given how similar he is to Doctor Wells, with his guidance for Barry and his science background. Most of the episode hes locked up and having experiments conducted on him by Barrys very trusting friends, before a classic heart to heart between Barry and Iris (who has done naff all this season thus far) convinces him to let "Jay" help him defeat the newest metahuman to be put on our Earth via Zoom, a sand monster of sorts. Jay helps Barry learn how to create a lightning bolt to take down the man of sand, and thus turn him into glass. The two team up in a great sequence where Flash 2, minus speed, and Barry combine to rescue a police officer (Newcomer Patty Spivot) used as a prisoner by the sand metahuman and destroy him.

The police officer in question, is Patty Spivot, who after much enthusiastic nagging to Joe, eventually becomes the newest member of his anti-metahuman task force. We find out that Cisco has some sort of psychic ability that he wants the Professor to keep to himself. And we catch a glimpse of Earth 2, and see none other than Doctor Wells in charge of its star lab!
What I liked

History of Earth 2 Flash was really cool. The other world scenario was great in Fringe TV show, and its well played in this show too.

The two flashes combine to take down metahuman, although Flash 2 is without powers.

The reveal that Zoom is Doctor Wells, although I sort of figured that one out.

Nice to see that at least someone, Barry, didnt just trust someone who walked into the building.

What I Didnt Like

Not sure how the Patty thing will go. As enthusiastic as she was, she was sort of annoying to put up with.

Not enough action and battle by far. This was pushed to the background to give more time to Flash 2 gradually "getting over" with Barry.

Despite all the two worlds chat, Joe still goes after their earths version of the meta-human, who of course isnt a meta-human in this world. That was just daft. Especially when the earth 2 version turned up just after they released our earths version.

Cisco psychic stuff; not sure where this goes because he could just use this "power" all the time and theres no need for anyone to do anything else! It needs to be very limited in its use.

Professor suddenly collapsing near end. A surprise but so quick it was hard to work out if we should be worried or not?

Huh?
The equations make no sense and neither did what the professor and cisco said in this scene. Not sure we needed to hear any of that.

?
Shes enthusiastic but Patty perhaps she need to learn that most metahumans arent going to go down via bullets.

Told you hed be back. Next up on my predictions list; Eddie. Hell turn up this season.

And Finally

This was largely all about learning more about Flash 2, and trusting him, with several other smaller subplots stuck in. It was enjoyable and interesting, but certainly not your typical episode where everything builds up to a climax.

Rating: 6 out of 10

The Vagrant CodeCross Two Indies that need your help

The Vagrant CodeCross Two Indies that need your help

If youve been following NGR over the years and youve seen my posts personally, then you may know that I like to support people who are out there trying to do their own thing. I guess I just sort of relate to them. Most of the projects Ive been involved with were ones that started alone, but slowly over time friends began to lend a helping hand, and others got involved as well. I know what its like to have friends, and I know what it is like to have the support of others in general. Even the smallest thing can go a long way, and thats why from time to time Ill spread the word of indie games that are still trying to make the first step. Sometimes the developers contact us here at NGR, but other times its friends or you (the reader) who bring these games to our attention, and this is exactly one of those times. When Cheerfuljochan (whom used to be a writer here at NGR) showed me the following two games and asked me to spread the word, I couldnt say no. So with that being said, lets get on with what this is really about.

Today Id like to take a little time to show off two indie games that are trying to get funded, with the first one being a game called "The Vagrant." While you can find out more information over at the games official Kickstarter page (which includes concept art, trailers, and more), the basics of this game is that it is a hack and slash. Drawing inspiration from games like Dragons Crown, the game uses a unique art style with fast pace arcade style hack and slash action. The game has a handful of characters/classes for you to choose from, each with their own skills and abilities, and what appears to be some challenging end stage boss battles (as one may expect from one of these arcade style beat em ups). Really if youre a fan of Dragons Crown, or beat em ups in general, this may be something youll want to look into. Its interesting, and it would be nice to see if it got funded.

The second, and final game Cheerful showed me, is one called CrossCode which also has its very own crowed unding page. This one, well, its an RPG Maker game... But thats not a bad thing. I personally have experience with the program and have done quite a few things with it, and I know better than anyone that it really comes down to how creative you can be with your games. Theres a lot of great RPG Maker games out there, and this one does do some creative things of its own. Its a fast paced action game for one, and it has some pretty deep customization elements as well (from what theyve shown off so far at least). The game is basically a sci-fi top down action RPG similar to PC classics such as Ys, so if youre a fan of that sort of thing you may want to look into this as well.

Well, that about covers it. Two more indie games you guys might like to try -- if they get funded that is. Maybe you can help these developers make their dreams come true?
